Epic Australia Pass value at Perisher

Cheapest skiing ever? 2019 Epic Australia pass on sale now

snow action team 17.08.2018

With plenty of powder days left in the 2018 season the 2019 Epic Australia Pass is on sale already, which got us thinking, has skiing ever been cheaper? Not in our time – we started in 1983.

Epic Australia Pass value at Perisher

Just 20 years ago an Early Bird Perisher Blue pass cost over $1200, for which you got access to Perisher and nowhere else. That was Perisher with t-bars on front valley and way less snowmaking too, so the “season” you got was likely shorter &/or more limited in what you could ski.

But for 2019 it’s available at just AU$799 for adults, AU$449 for students and AU$599 for seniors. You only need to put $49 up front, so it’s not a big ask.

Then you will have plenty of time to work out how best to include all the other areas you know get included with the Epic Australia Pass – attention, they are for the 2019-2020 northern winter, not this one coming.

The options keep on expanding – Whistler and Hakuba (10 and 5 days respectively) were huge additions, and all season at Crested Butte is another – it’s a sensational off the beaten track Colorado area with a great village and terrain to challenge anyone.

10 days at Whistler anyone?
A full season (bar a handful of holiday blackout dates) at America’s largest resort, Park City?
Lots of Tahoe – Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar (with a few holiday blackout dates).
Plenty of Colorado’s finest – Crested Butte unrestricted all season; Breckenridge and Keystone (all season with a few blackout days) or Vail and Beaver Creek up to 10 days total (this figure includes Whistler – it’s 10 days between the 3 of them).
Or some of the best in the East – Stowe, Okemo and Sunapee.
The Pacific northwest including Stevens Pass, an unknown gem of an area that can get slammed with snow.
Or how about 5 days consecutive across 9 participating areas in the Hakuba Valley?

So while day pass costs have soared the season pass deals have been getting more and more amazing – headed by the Epic Australia Pass for Aussies. It has sparked a lot of competition, with awesome deals across the Tasman like $NZD 349 for a Mt Hutt season pass for example, never mind the Ikon Pass and Mountain Collective passes – which don’t provide much for skiing in Australia, but plenty of options for North America plus a few add ons.

But if you live in reasonable driving distance of Perisher, or can make it there for a midweek or week from further afield, then the Epic Australia Pass continues to set the gold standard in all round lift pass value.

The new quad chairlift will increase lift capacity by 75% in one of Perisher’s most popular areas and will access fantastic beginner, intermediate and advanced runs as well as the famous Leichhardt Terrain Park. The new snowmaking project will link Happy Valley to the base of this new chairlift and will ensure that terrain in this part of the resort can be opened earlier, providing great conditions across the entire winter. This major investment to improve the guest experience at Perisher follows the installation of the Freedom Quad Chairlift in the Guthega area of the resort in 2014 and over AU$25 million in snowmaking improvements.
