What’s in a jacket? Is a jacket just a jacket?
You only have to take your Aldi jacket to Japan or a chilly snow day in Canada to know all jackets are not made the same. Snow lovers who learn the hard way know that buying a great jacket is an investment in their own warmth and comfort for a decade or more.

Depending on your love of technology can determine how much you want to nerd out on jacket features, as well as how much time you’re spending outdoors – as opposed to apres ski and hot chocolate breaks. This week we go deep on a few Mammut jackets and find out why Mammut is a popular choice for serious outdoor junkies.
Let the education begin:
What’s the difference between your mountaineering range and your ski range and can’t I use both in the snow?
“We chose fabrics best suited for snow conditions for the ski jackets, we place waterproof zippers and pockets differently, the mountaineering jackets are lighter weight with higher pockets so they can be folded up smaller and have a slimmer cut for mountaineering.
Our ski jackets are a better size for Aussie skiers, they stretch (3 ways) while at the same time are waterproof despite the fabric not being as light and we have insulated options as well as non-insulated. Very technical while remaining very practical.
In our ski jackets we have placed removable powder skirts, while our mountaineering jackets have harness and pack-friendly pockets built for abrasive resistance.
Any sustainable considerations?
Our jackets are sustainably and ethically produced by using dope-dying to reduce water usage and better colour retention over the life of the fabric. It’s about buying a quality piece of gear once that will last a lifetime, steering away from the fast-fashion trend.
