Australia’s #1 ski run means a marked run that has to be on an official resort trail map. So no zones, no local secrets, no back country specials. Just Australia’s best resort run.
We asked a few locals to name a favourite at their favourite of our big 5 resorts below here.
Vote for those or write your own suggestion – all entries go in for chance to win.

Thredbo: Michael’s Mistake
Race Coach Peter Fuchs has many favourites on his home snow. But none better than Michael’s Mistake, a run often overlooked – especially by occasional visitors who don’t even know it’s there. Head skier’s left off Antons. Sure, it’s short. But sweet.
“I love Michael’s Mistake for the hidden features” says Pete.
Perisher: Kamikaze
Not too many double blacks on trail maps in NSW, but Blue Cow’s classic Kamikaze is.
“I just got re-acquainted with Kamikaze this winter doing laps on successive weeks to test Kastle skis. Once I worked out the exact last spot to hang a hard right and make it back to the Summit Chair I was on a roll. Sure, you can keep going out through the trees at the bottom when things are good. But for fast steep repeat resort laps you can’t beat Kamikaze” says our Editor Owain Price. “If it’s too sketchy at the top entrance drop in at the lower entrance. Friends/partners not keen can take Zali’s and meet you at the lift.”
Hotham: Lindsay’s Cliffs
Mr Slugskis, aka Matt Tickner, even managed to be caught by lockdown at Hotham unable to get home to Melbourne not the other way round. At Hotham he loves Lindsay’s Cliffs.
“Steep terrain and Deep pockets of powder hidden in the trees under Gotcha chairlift. Have spent entire mornings cutting laps in the extreme zone” says Matty.
“You can often get in multiple untouched runs if you’re up early enough. Lots of trees and cliffs at the bottom, not for the faint hearted.”
Check the Slug range and support a local brand on the Slugskis site.
Buller: Hogg’s Back
Not actually born, but certainly bred in Buller, Rob Aivatoglou from George’s Ski Hire rates Hogg’s Back Australia’s #1 ski run.
“Best playground on the planet! Great pitch and features everywhere!” he enthuses.
Falls Creek: Apres Vous
Falls Creek instructor Trent Abberfield likes Apres Vous.
“Apre Vous off Summit. It’s a black run that has some steep drops and when groomed is a delight to ski, fast technical downhill. With amazing views over the entire Village Bowl too” he says.
