Use it or Lose It - Public Transport Up to the Snowy Mountains

Emma Wilson 07.06.2024

What do you want for your snowy mountains? Less road traffic and a great public transport system like European ski villages? Then make it happen and be part of the solution. Support the bus service this season or we will lose the service and go back to traffic jams up the hill, it’s as simple as that.

Leave your car in a Station Resort car spaces this winter and take the mountain shuttle bus up to Thredbo or  Perisher resorts. It’s just $10 each way, $20 return and it means no national park fees, driving in snowy conditions and you can have a drink at the end of the day in a resort bus without stressing about the trip down.

You can buy a season pass for multiple trips and the timetable is here  There are bus stops all around the Jindabyne area, including Chalet Alpina in Gippsland St, Banjo Patterson, the visitor centre and the ski terminal. Why would you schlep your skis, kids and luggage and fight for a car spot in the resort if you don’t have to?

I especially encourage young and inexperienced drivers to this service, or nervous drivers who aren’t familiar with driving in snowy conditions and on snowy days people can get aggressive on the roads, there are always cars sliding off the side of the roads.

The bus also goes from Berridale and Cooma, connecting you to cheaper accommodation and you can rent equipment in these towns as well. Find all more info here

From 22 July to 1 September services will operate every 30 minutes between Jindabyne and Perisher Friday to Sunday. During 5 July to 21 July, the NSW Winter School Holidays, buses will run every 30 minutes between Jindabyne and Perisher, every day. Download the timetable on coomacoaches.com.au.
