The North Face Boot Bag Review

The Go-To Carry-On for the Snow

I absolutely adore my The North Face boot bag. See the casual way I said ‘My”?, It has become my go-to carry-on whenever I’m travelling to the snow, people remark on it. I know I get attached to things – love my handbag, love my ski boots – and now I love tis boot bag.

What I love most is how thoughtfully it is designed. The ski boots have their own completely separate compartment in the bag, made from tough, waterproof, tarpaulin-like material, which keeps them away from ruining other things in the bag and keeps the wetness away from everything else in the bag. The compartment zips independently and is designed so the boots can stand upright, which is particularly handy when I’m sitting at a café and want to get into the rest of my luggage without everything falling over.

And there is a surprising amount of room in the main compartment. I can fit my ski helmet in there, with my goggles safely tucked inside the helmet, as well as my gloves, neck buff and other snow essentials. I’ve even packed a change of clothes, with socks and underwear tucked inside my ski boots to make the most of the space. There’s room for my makeup, magazines and, when I’m travelling for work, even my laptop and A4-sized work diary.

There’s also a discreet little zippered compartment towards the top of the bag that I use for the things I really don’t want to lose, hotel keys, spare cash and stuff like that.

Another big plus is that the whole exterior is waterproof. And despite being a boot bag, it works brilliantly as a backpack, with proper shoulder straps and a chest strap to keep it secure. I can simply throw my small cross-body handbag inside, put the boot bag on my back and I’m ready to go. It’s super practical and it gets shoved into every car, shuttle bus, hidey-hole in snow resorts and dragged across things that would ruin something less durable.

For me, this is what makes this boot bag such a great travel companion. I can use it as my carry-on luggage and keep my expensive, essential snow gear with me rather than putting it into checked luggage. If my suitcase goes missing or is delayed, I’ve still got my ski boots, helmet, goggles and all my essentials.

The Verdict

It’s practical, incredibly well thought out and genuinely useful beyond just carrying ski boots. For anyone who travels to the snow by air, this is a bag that has earned a permanent place on my packing list – yep for sure. Love it.
