Choosing where to stay in Méribel starts with picking the area that fits how you travel. The resort spans several distinct neighbourhoods: some sit right beside the slopes for click-and-go mornings, others keep you close to shops and dinner. Use the snapshot below to choose your base, then dive into the hotels, residences and a standout chalet that consistently deliver.
Neighbourhood snapshot (how they feel)
- Town centre (La Chaudanne): the practical hub—lifts, ski school meeting points and most restaurants within easy reach on foot.
- Belvédère / Rond-Point: high above the centre with true ski-to-door convenience and big valley panoramas.
- Morel / Altitude 1600, Plateau / La Renarde: quieter residential slopeside pockets just above the bustle, handy for quick getaways to the lifts.
- Mottaret (1750 m): purpose-built for efficiency—fast links in all directions.
- Méribel Village: a mellow enclave lower down with its own chair and a small cluster of places to eat and shop.

Five-star hotels
Le Kaïla (5-star) — ski-in/ski-out beside La Chaudanne
Why book: a private lift through the in-house ski shop puts you straight onto the Doron run and the main lift hub in seconds. You’re also in the centre for an easy stroll to dinner. Expect a serious spa, snug lounges and family-friendly suites. Dining ranges from Michelin-star L’Ekrin to the lively Brasserie Le 80, and the management is warm and hands-on. Also featuring an exclusive LEGO kids club.
Best for: couples and families who want five-star ease in the most convenient central location.
Le Coucou (5-star) — ski-in/ski-out design with big-sky views
Why book: perched in Belvédère with direct piste access and a bar/terrace that looks right across the valley. Interiors lean light-wood Scandinavian—calm, airy, beautifully finished. Dining is a highlight with three on-site options: Beefbar (world-class cuts including Black Angus from the USA, Wagyu from Australia, Kobe from Japan, and “Black Pearl” from the Baltic), Biancaneve (a bistronomic brasserie with a seafood slant plus vegetarian and meat dishes; the cheese platter is exceptional) and Le Fumoir (an intimate Savoyard fondue room celebrating aged cheeses—choose Abondance PDO, Comté PDO or Meule de Savoie). A quality spa and a proper kids’ club round things out.
Best for: design lovers and families who want style with true slope access..

Special add-on
Base in Méribel Centre for the week and add 2–3 nights at Le Refuge de la Traye—a tiny luxury hamlet above the valley that feels like its own private world. Arrive on skis with a private guide (the magical way) or by snowcat. Book a room or the entire refuge. It’s an extraordinary finale that turns a great week into a story you’ll tell for years.
Booking tips
- Festive and February weeks: commit early; prime ski-in/ski-out options disappear first.
- January: usually the quietest slopes and strongest value.
- Late March: longer days and relaxed terrace lunches.
- When planning your dates, be aware that almost all apartments are rented on a weekly basis only from Saturday to Saturday with a 5pm check-in time.

Transfers
Fly Geneva or Lyon, or take the TGV to Moûtiers; private transfers are the easiest way to reach your door. Ask for the route that fits your arrival time.
