Cat Azemat comes from the mega metropolis of Shanghai, population more than 26 million people, yet she chose to live in Mount Beauty, 2600 odd (not very odd) permanent residents. We did the math for you, that’s 10,000 times smaller. Now that’s a change of pace, tree/ski change for sure. And the next in our Local Downlow series ..
Cat is the owner and proprietor of Mount Beauty’s newest store, Valley N Peaks, located in the main street. This modern retail shop has all your ladies off-mountain needs, as fellow recent local Katherine Eames reports.
A sleek modern looking fashion retailer stocking a great array of brands.
From Superdry, Elwood, Hurley, Running bear and the fully recycled Dharma Bums active brand Cat has both active wear and a great array of après needs from comfy jackets and coats to brand new après boots.
Ladies fashion and clothes that suit the active lifestyle here in the Mountains.
Cat purchased the existing High Country Designs in Mount Beauty in February this year, a bold move during a Pandemic that saw the ski season cancelled last year and a slower summer due to lock downs.
Cat has a corporate background and wanted to get away from the big city and start living life. She fell in love with Mount Beauty and put her money into the town.
I asked Cat what the mountains mean to her.
“Everything! They are the reason for me being here, it’s not just the winter but there is something special about living here. They are the reason for my business as well.”
Cat has taken the existing, somewhat confused store and transformed it into a woman’s clothing boutique that caters for Mt Beauty’s active community.
“This is an active town, for such an active town it needed somewhere where women could purchase good quality activewear”
Cat explains. She also stocks youth wear and proudly states that she can clothe women from 8-80.
If you are visiting Mt Beauty, be it winter, summer or any time, drop in and see Valley N Peaks great range. It’s reasonably priced and well stocked for all your off mountain fashion and active needs.
