Kings & Queens of Corbet's Back With New Format

snow action team 27.01.2021

America’s ballsiest and our favourite ski event there, Kings & Queens of Corbet’s, is back at Jackson Hole for 2021 with a new COVID-safer head-to-head format similar to surf comps.

The epic performances at Kings & Queens of Corbet’s over the years are the stuff of legend. For my money Trevor Kennison in 2019 was/is our all time favourite. The ‘Sitski Boss’ absolutely nailed it with an inspirational performance – check our post event interview with him for more on that.

JHMR will host some of the world’s top freeride skiers and snowboarders, pitting runs head-to-head in the famed Corbet’s Couloir with competitors vying for the title of King or Queen of Corbet’s.

This year the event has been modified to limit the production and number of people involved, and viewing will be limited on-site in Tensleep Bowl.

Kings & Queens popularity will be met with a more scaled, manageable and intimate experience with adherence to strict policies and procedures aligned with COVID-19 protocols.

Sure, 99.9% of us can’t be there in person, but the event will be broadcasted on Red Bull TV on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 at 10 am MST (Mountain Standard Time) and winners will be announced at that time.

Held in a similar format to many surf competitions, Kings & Queens of Corbet’s will be held within a weather window where the contest day will be chosen when the conditions are optimal for the event and athletes. This year’s competition window is February 16-21, 2021.

JHMR will update the status of the event each afternoon during the competition window at https://www.jacksonhole.com/kings-queens-corbets.html and on JHMR’s social channels the day prior to the event.

Viewing of the event will take place below Corbet’s Couloir, in Tensleep Bowl, and the competition is expected to start at 10 am.  JHMR wants to remind spectators there is no beginner or intermediate terrain from the spectator venue down to the bottom of the mountain. All spectators will be asked to comply with all of JHMR’s COVID-19 protocols.

Kings and Queens of Corbet’s 2021 is supported by GoPro, Smartwool, Gore-Tex, Yeti, Sweet Protection and Red Bull, bringing together some of the world’s best action sports networks, products and athletes to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
