Falls Creek Resort and Hotham Resort are both staying open despite the lifts being closed until August 19th (at least).
Resort Entry fees have been reduced and other activities like XC skiing remain available.
Here is the latest info from Falls Creek Resort Management: (see below for Hotham info)
Irrespective of Vail Resorts decision to suspend lifting operations at Falls Creek, The Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management Board (FCARMB) has resolved to continue a range of activations during the period up until August 19th.
We are devastated for our local businesses, staff and all our guests, that such action has been necessary to respond to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victoria.
The safety of our community and workforces has been a priority this season as well. FCARMB continues to work with all its operators ensuring the resort is in a position to provide a COVIDSafe environment, nonetheless.
The snow industry is resilient, has managed adversity and dealt with the challenges of a fickle snow god. The additional challenge presented by the restrictions on our Australia wide user group adds a layer of complication to the operational and safety considerations.
FCARMB will continue to operate under its resort COVIDSafe plan for the remainder of the season. With guests coming to the resort, they will be required via the resort entry portal, to provide their details for contract tracing purposes and for capacity management.
Resort activations will include;
- Cross country trail grooming, albeit a reduced number of kilometres, the trail will provide in excess of 30+ kilometres XC terrain.
- Tobogganing and snowplay will be activated at the Windy Corner Toboggan slope – a booking platform and management out of Windy Corner will be initiated as soon as conditions permit.
- Ski Patrol will continue to provide ski field safety and be available for assistance to resort visitors.
- Transport services within the village (excluding the village and Bogong High Plains shuttles), including maintenance and management of white roads for ski in ski out (conditions permitting).
- Childcare will remain open to residents and staff.
- Supporting our licensed tour operators with the efforts to provide unique and inspirational experiences in the resort
- Continued promotion, activation and support for all on mountain operators via our website (fallscreek.com.au) and our social media platforms.
Further activities will be released soon.
Access to the resort will continue to be provided by our snow clearing team, keeping both the Bogong High Plains road and village car parks safe for visitors, staff and our community.
FCARMB is committed to providing a resort experience that is safe and accessible. Until further notice however the following services will not be running:
- The Falls Creek Medical Centre will close from July 12th, until August 19th.
- Ambulance Victoria will not be located in the resort until further notice.
