WA to NZ Bubble is Back Tomorrow
Better news for Western Australian based snow lovers – the NZ Travel Bubble is back on for them from tomorrow.
“The Government is satisfied the risk is low, based on the advice of the director-general of health, and that the trans-Tasman Bubble is working largely as planned” says Chris Hipkins, NZ’s Minister for Covid-19 Response, in a statement released this afternoon.
“The Government is satisfied the risk is low, based on the advice of the director-general of health, and that the trans-Tasman Bubble is working largely as planned.”
“The advice is that the Perth cluster appears to be contained and the post-lockdown transition response measures the Western Australia Government introduced will provide an additional layer of assurance.”
The bubble reopens from midday Wednesday NZ time, 9am Perth time after a very short pause.
One NZ citizen managed to fly from Perth to Sydney on a domestic flight, then on to Auckland, without declaring he was coming from WA during the pause. He is isolating at home, and may face charges.
Teething problems for the whole Bubble concept are inevitable – looking at the rest of the World if Australia and NZ can make it work well it will be a huge step to getting back to a more normal life.
And getting in some more turns ..
