Thinking about Tahoe
North Tahoe USA
Words: Emma Wilson
So many places, so little time but if you’ve never been to Lake Tahoe, consider testing out North Lake Tahoe’s smorgasbord of incredible snow resorts, offering a variety of skiing and snowboarding experiences, from large-scale resorts to smaller, more intimate options.
Palisades Tahoe is the region’s largest premier resort, spanning 6,000 skiable acres across eight peaks. Connected by a Base to Base Gondola with Alpine Meadows, it’s a popular destination for both Olympic athletes and recreational skiers. As the Spring Skiing Capital®, Palisades Tahoe is included in the Ikon Pass and Alpine Meadows and Palisades are on this same pass.

Northstar California Resort is another top choice, known for its world-class terrain parks and a variety of winter activities. With 2,480 acres of skiable terrain and access to the Epic Pass, Northstar offers a diverse experience for all levels.
While larger resorts dominate the scene, smaller options like Diamond Peak, Mt. Rose Ski Resort, and Sugar Bowl also provide exceptional experiences. Diamond Peak, a community-owned resort, boasts breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and uncrowded runs. Mt. Rose, with its high base elevation and panoramic views, offers access to some of the Sierra’s best powder.

Sugar Bowl, a historic resort, is known for its abundant snowfall and challenging terrain. Originally chosen by Walt Disney for its location, Sugar Bowl continues to offer a truly alpine experience.
