Snow Brides, the ULTIMATE commitment

Emma Wilson 13.02.2025

Have you ever thought about getting married or engaged in the snow? Do you have a shared passion for snowboarding or just love being in the cold? These couples were willing to take their commitment to an elevation that required enclosed snowboots and a warm coat. Read how they did it. Thanks to Nat Moore Photography for the snowspiration.

Allie & Luke married at Arapahoe Basin on March 6, 2024

Though getting married in the snow at 11,000 ft might sound crazy (and did to the family and friends we brought with us!), we always dreamed of spending our wedding day doing our favorite activity – skiing and riding together. Not to mention that there can’t be a wedding backdrop more epic than the East Wall at Arapahoe Basin. We lucked out with a gorgeous early March day for our skilopement – complete with a tailgate brunch at the base followed by a sun-drenched afternoon on the slopes before meeting back up with our family and friends at the mid-mountain lodge. After a short ceremony and champagne toast, we kicked off the rest of our forever riding down that beautiful Colorado powder surrounded by our family and friends.

Emma & Garrett married on Loveland Pass on March 21, 2023

Emma and I chose to get married in the snow-covered backcountry of Colorado for several reasons. The most significant was the pure bliss we felt in the presence of the majestic Rocky Mountains and fresh snow, we wanted to be with our pack in our favorite place. When we decided to elope, Colorado was experiencing its highest snowfall in years, which we had been thoroughly enjoying for months on and off the slopes. Our two beloved huskies, who adored playing in the snow Acee and Dakota needed to be part of our special day as well.

Nat suggested Loveland Pass, nestled on the Continental Divide and renowned for its backcountry ski access. With Arapahoe Basin just down the road, we could ski there after exchanging our vows, making the experience even more magical. For us, the decision to elope in winter was fueled by our deep love and passion for the outdoors, Colorado’s breathtaking mountain views, and the exhilarating thrill of snow. It was the perfect setting for our intimate celebration.

Brittney & Nick married at Breckenridge Ski Resort on February 2, 2022

Choosing a winter wedding and marrying while snowboarding became an organically natural decision for us. The roots of our bond were intricately intertwined with the bliss of shredding through the powder, right from our first getaway as a couple at Bretton Woods, NH to our first vacation in the snowy paradises of Whistler, BC. Eloping on the slopes at Breckenridge, one of our cherished resorts, wasn’t just about selecting a venue – it was about affirming our mutual passion for the ride and the snow. Among our circles, we began as a hockey ‘power couple’ acknowledged for our collective energy, but it quickly morphed into the adventures of a powder couple. The thrill of chasing fresh snow, getting lost amidst the evergreens, and reaching the pinnacle of some of the most magnificent destinations defines us. It’s more than a hobby. It’s a way of life, a mutual obsession – we don’t just snowboard, we live to ride. And what better way to immortalize this shared love than to make it the centerpiece of our wedding? This is why we chose a winter wedding on the slopes.
