Ski Now With Swiss Vaccination Certificate
As Australia allows outbound travel again from Monday 1st November Switzerland is already open for skiing at several high altitude resorts including Zermatt and Engelberg-Titlis.
Quarantine free entry is available, but as of October 25, 2021, the Swiss Federal council requires all people vaccinated outside of the EU (including tourists from Australia & New Zealand) to apply for the Swiss vaccination certificate in order to enter indoor venues in Switzerland.
The online application costs CHF 30, and must be done prior to arrival.
People without a residence permit in Switzerland (tourists) require a valid identity card for their application, proof of complete vaccination abroad or a positive molecular biological test result (e.g. PCR test) from a foreign laboratory as well as proof that they are entering Switzerland (e.g. hotel accommodation, travel ticket).
Swiss Covid rules: You won’t need a Covid pass to access the slopes or use ski lifts. However, to enter bars, restaurants, clubs and other indoor hospitality venues, you’ll need to be able to show proof of vaccination or recovery from Covid, or a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours/antigen test within 48 hours.
Swiss face mask rules: Face masks are compulsory on public transport and indoors in public areas.
Swiss entry rules: Open to fully vaccinated Australians. If you’re not fully vaccinated you’ll need to meet one of the accepted reasons for travelling to arrive, but flying is difficult for leaving anyway never mind difficulties returning home.
Swiss skiing operated generally with only limited restrictions last season, and this season will see even less, especially for those with the Swiss Vaccination Certificate or the EU equivalent.
