The ‘White Circus’, aka Skiing’s World Cup, returns to Sölden this weekend with bumper covid-safe crowds expected. If you’ve never watched a major ski race life in Austria think footy final on snow with bells.
Saturday is the Women’s GS, followed by the Men’s on Sunday.
It goes off, and you really should try and get to watch races somewhere on your snow travels.
But more importantly for us, Austria is open to the World.
Australia is too – well, at least NSW will be from November 1st, from when vaccinated travellers can leave the country with no quarantine requirement on return (Australian citizens and visa holders only until the Australian Government sorts it’s own policy out and decides to end the “Hermit Kingdom” status in force since March 2021.)
The airlines have responded quickly to the NSW Government’s proactive approach to resstarting international travel from Sydney. We did a quick check for some fares and found very reasonable and convenient flights to Zurich with Qantas (on code-share Emirates flights – and long haul economy doesn’t get much better then them).
Zurich, Munich and Vienna are all great options to get to Austria’s best ski areas including Sölden – we found the best deals on Qantas to Zurich.
