POC Fornix BC Helmet Review

The navy and white colourway pays homage to the mighty Carlton Blues – that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Thankfully this is a “review” and not a “test”.  In fact, I never want to “test” a helmet.  But if I do (touch wood) I’ll feel better about it in a backcountry POC Fornix BC with Mips® (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) and RECCO® Avalanche Rescue Reflector technology embedded in it.

First off, the Helmet looks great with a brash big “POC” emblazoned across the side.  The navy and white colourway pays homage to the mighty Carlton Blues – that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.  The online size chart was spot on and the lid fit straight out of the box as ordered.  It’s comfy, warm and has adjustable vents to manage heat. It comes with a bag to load up the bucket, goggles and other goodies worth protecting in your luggage.  The POC 360° adjustment system ensures a snug fit and goggle clip secure my POC Fovea goggles in case of a yard sale.

In the super unlikely event that I find myself in strife (never in my lifetime please) – the Mips® and RECCO tech are designed to limit brain scrambling in case of collision and aid rescuers to find me in case of an avalanche – which I never ever ever want to test. It also has a twiceme® NFC Medical ID chip that can store vital medical info accessible by ambos and ski patrol with the tap of their phone.

Good looks, high tech and comfort – ski safe in POC.
