This was the opening buzz but as mentioned, In2ski didn’t last.

Snow enthusiasts can now hit the slopes year-round with the opening of In2ski, the first and only indoor snow sports centre in Sydney.

5 time Winter Olympian and 5 time aerial skiing world champion Jacqui Cooper was involved in the promotion – not ownership as we had previously stated here – bumped into Jacqui as guest speaker at an event recently and asked her what happened to In2ski which opened on January 2014 in Alexandria, just 5km from Sydney’s CBD.

“There’s nothing better than the rush of skiing down the slopes and I’m incredibly excited that Sydneysiders can join in on the action all year round,” said Cooper at the time.

In2ski is the ideal place to comfortably and safely learn to ski or snowboard or to perfect your technique.”

In2ski is focussed on training and skill development through private or group coaching sessions that accelerate development. One hour on In2ski’s indoor slope is the equivalent of eight hours on a mountain and the qualified and experienced team of coaches can enhance the ability of everyone from a first-timer or beginner to an expert skier.

Managing Director Matthew McMeekin said In2ski will not only give people of all ages and skill level the opportunity to experience skiing or snowboarding but the centre will help build the profile of snow sports in Australia.

“We’re proud to have partnered with some of Australia’s leading snow industry brands such as Hotham, Falls Creek and Rossignol as well as Canada’s Silverstar and we look forward to developing snow sport coaching and training across the country.”

In2ski uses an advanced Maxxtracks ski slope simulator, providing a superior ski belt complete with boarding, fencing, kickboards and handrails. There are three slopes, a full range of premium rental equipment and a café and retail space. Coaching sessions can be booked by contacting In2ski and each session lasts one hour.

In2ski was located at 69-73 O’Riordan Street, Alexandria. Now for snow simulators check out the fantastic new alternative at the Moore Park Entertainment Precinct which has been thriving for a couple of years – Offpiste Ski + Board. Check our feature on them here
