Flylow Knight Jacket, Chemical Pant Snow Test

snow action team 16.08.2021

Our BC guru and lead tester Steve Leeder has been giving the latest gear from Flylow the full work out – the Knight Jacket and Chemical Pants have passed every test with flying colours.

The indie rider-owned brand from Colorado is available downunder from Aussie importers Alpine Sports at Nuggets in Jindabyne, or from their online store.

It’s only been 20 days in this new kit from FLYLOW and I can definitely say I have had a chance to use it in pretty much every type of conditions you could think of so I feel pretty confident when I tell you what I think about this bit of kit.

The storms have been pretty hectic and full of everything from rain, sleet and snow on top of 100+K winds.

The KNIGHT jacket has taken everything is stride asking for more.

I love the fact that the power skirt inside the jacket has buttons that snap straight to the Chemical pant, pretty much making it a onesie. I do wish there was one more button on the very back tho.

There are just enough pockets inside and out to fit what I need and a couple more things. As I’m skiing the resort a truckload this season, so far it’s been nice to have super strong gear.

I tend to find some of the BACKCOUNTRY super light type stuff not strong enough but the STARL 3 layer fabric that FLYLOW uses on this Jacket and the pants has been super strong.

Bashing laps in the trees, skis over the shoulder and no cuts, scrapes or rubs. The extra 1000D material on the cuff and knees of the Chemical pant have been awesome for kneeling down building jumps and falling all over the place trying some new stuff this season.

Most important has been the awesome comfort of the Flylow kit.

I have a size large in both the jacket and pant and they just fit right. They move with you when you move. There are adjustable elastic tabs in the waist, but I go for a belt still as the elastic just doesn’t come small enough for my waist.

Flylow Knight Jacket & Chemical Pant Snow Action Test Verdict:

If you want some gear that’s more reliable than your 4X4 than this is the gear you want. Bombproof and Australian weather proof material, comfortable as, and makes you look like you really know what you’re doing!

They Say:

Knight Jacket: A three-layer freeride coat built for mountain shredders.

A mountain utility coat built for everything from bootpacking to tram riding to gelande quaffing, the Knight Jacket has a heavy-duty, three-layer fabric that blocks wind and cold and a Durable Water Repellent coating to keep sleet and snow from sending you inside. Generous 14-inch pit zippers keep you cool up the uptrack or during a spring-skiing session at the resort.

This Flylow classic pant has hardshell fabric and Cordura reinforcements.

Chemical Pant: A signature item in the Flylow collection, the Chemical Pant combines classic styling—clean, rugged lines and a streamlined design—with modern tech features, like articulated knees, waterproof zippers, ample thigh venting, and Cordura reinforced knees and cuffs. It’s all packaged in a tough, three-layer hardshell Oxford fabric that’ll keep you protected from the elements. With new OmniBloq Durable Water Repellent coating, the Chemical Pants will stay dry in a storm three times longer than gear with regular DWR. One of our most resourceful pants, you’ll find the Chemical Pants suit your needs inbounds and out.
