Perisher
The team at Perisher downed tools on their summer season projects this morning to enjoy the first snowfall of the year. Around 4cm of fresh snow fell overnight as temperatures dipped to below freezing for a fresh start to end the working week.
“While it’s not quite time to click into your skis or strap on the board just yet, it’s a clear sign that the seasons are changing and winter is on it’s way!” said Emily Smith, Senior Manager Brand + Experience, Perisher + Australia. “Following Australia’s best-ever Winter Olympics campaign, excitement is at an all-time high, and this first snowfall is just the beginning.”
Next week, new snowguns will be installed, marking the 20th anniversary year of automated snowmaking at Perisher, and the final preparations for King’s Birthday Opening Weekend will be done.

Falls Creek
The first snowfall of the year has arrived in Falls Creek, with around 8cm falling in the village overnight as temperatures dipped as low as -2C.
“We’re thrilled to have received a very special delivery just before Easter, our first snowfall for 2026!” said Betony Pitcher, Falls Creek’s Manager, Brand & Experience. “The team up here at Falls Creek could not be more excited as we put the finishing touches into our summer projects and get ready to welcome guests back on opening weekend starting Saturday 6 June – just over two months’ away.”
Hotham
Winter made an early-season entrance at Hotham overnight also, with a polar blast dumping around 10cm of fresh snow on the slopes and temperatures tumbling to -2.1°C as a preview of the upcoming winter snow season.
“Temps dropped, flakes fell and Hotham got its first taste of winter. It’s only a teaser (for now), but we couldn’t be more excited!” said Alex Pankiw, Brand + Experience Manager, Hotham. “Before you know it, snow guns will be firing and we’ll be counting down to winter.”

Mt Buller
Light snow has dusted across a chilly Mt Buller overnight with just 71 days to the 2026 season opening celebrations, and everything for the upcoming snow season is now on sale.
