Corin Forest, Australia's new ski resort!

snow action team 27.05.2016

Corin Forest is back! Just a few minutes from Canberra’s southern suburbs, the little area has not had lift accessed skiing for 21 years, the original steep little rope tow slope having proved a bit much for the beginner market they were targeting back in the day.
Under new ownership the area has bounced back strongly the past 2 winters for snow play and activities.
Now they have stepped it up with an 80m long carpet lift and a 5000 sq metre slope area.
It will be the closest ski field to a major city, and an ideal place to get started.
“We’re really excited to be bringing skiing back to Corin Forest. It’s been gone a long time, and from the moment we came here at the end of 2013 it is what we’ve been working to” says Dane Liepins, Corin Forest General Manager.

“We’re not trying to take on the big resorts. We’re still all about families at Corin, we want to be a great day out for the whole family and an affordable step before you move on to bigger slopes.
“We’ll be running two sessions on the lift each day. Half day lift passes, ski or board hire and a lesson are under $100 – and you can be back in the CBD less than an hour later.”
The ski slope is in addition to other major improvements including snow hire shop, a new, larger sun-deck area and commercial kitchen.
Prices will be a half-day lift ticket $30 (Australia’s cheapest skiing!), ski or snowboard rental $30, 2h group lesson $39. For safety and to make sure everyone gets the most out of their session the area will be limited to 150 skiers at a time, with tickets sold online at www.corin.com.au
If there is natural snowfall over the weekend a snow play area will open, details will be provided through Corin Forest’s social media. Work is underway and the lift and ski slope are expected to open in June.
