Cheap Lifts For Millennials/Gen Z Not Boomers?

snow action team 08.04.2021

As house prices head to the stratosphere a lot of millennials and Get Z must be wondering how they will ever ever buy an apartment or house of their own. Going skiing likely won’t help.

Especially since all the lift discounts have been slanted to the boomers with senior discount passes and even freebies some places.

But Taos in New Mexico has taken a step in the other direction: their ‘Zia Pass’ (for Gen Z presumably) is cheaper than both the regular adult pass and their senior pass.

For Taos Adult life begins at 36, which is pretty accurate these days. Most have actually left home by then..

Their season pass sale is on now with these rates:

Adult – 36-64$995
Military/1st Responder$895
Senior – 65+$895
Zia – 18-35$695
Youth – 7-17$450

Not a bad idea to keep/get people skiing and riding. Good to see some resorts at least thinking outside the square and trying to look after/grow their market. What do you think?

This week’s poll, who should get a discount on lift passes?

On the bright side for the younger generations, checking the age years for these groups we came across an American stat to make you feel better, “Millennials stand to inherit over $68 trillion from Baby Boomer parents by the year 2030.”

And while you wait for them to check out, try conning them into taking you skiing. You’ll have to put up with selfies, but it worked for us ..

  • Baby Boomers = born between 1946 and 1964
  • Gen X = born between 1965 and 1979/80
  • Gen Y, or Millennials = born between 1981 and 1994/6
  • Gen Z: = born between 1997 and 2012/15
