Buller Set to Open Despite Melbourne Lockdown

How hard is it for everyone in Victoria – the resorts are doing their best given the unfolding situation, Buller Ski Lifts put out this Operations Update – 4 June 2021

“Yesterday’s announcement by the State Government partially lifting restrictions in Regional Victoria while maintaining the Melbourne lockdown for now is a mixed blessing for the resort.

The good news is resort employees are back at work today preparing for the 2021 snow season. The bad news is Melbourne visitation to Regional Victoria will not be permitted over the Queen’s Birthday weekend. This will dramatically reduce the number of visitors and has prompted significant accommodation cancellations and a lot of disappointed business owners, employees and guests.

Buller Ski Lifts will open Bourke Street for skiing and snowboarding, snow and government regulations permitting, on Saturday 12 June 2021. This decision will allow our business and resort partners to complete preparations for the 2021 snow season and provide Regional Victorians the chance to enjoy some fun on the snow once again.

Due to the dramatically reduced visitor numbers for the Queen’s Birthday weekend and uncertainty around the duration of the Melbourne lockdown we are compelled to restrict the scale of our operations to match the anticipated demand.  The proposed festivities and entertainment has been deferred due to the prevailing restrictions, however regional Victorians will be welcomed to the resort where dining venues, retail and accommodation houses will operate under the guidelines.

The health and safety of our people and guests remains of paramount importance as we operate carefully in accordance with our COVID Safe Plans and all government regulations.”
