UPDATE 15/2/21: No it won’t – the government has extended the veto on skiing in the Livigno area until March 5th, joining South Tyrol and Trentino who were already in that predicament.

At last it’s better times in Italy for skiers as resorts, including our favourite Livigno, aka ‘Little Tibet’, re-open on Monday!

Following the meeting of the Technical Scientific Committee, the opening of the lifts is confirmed for Monday, February 15, 2021, in all yellow areas, including Livigno.

With a snow depth of 226cm on mountain and 104cm in the valley as we write on February 8 things are looking good for next week’s reopening.

Italy has been hard hit by COVID, and many measures will remain in place as the ski lifts re-open.

“Measures have been taken to contain the virus, according to which the regions are classified in different risk zones (white, yellow, orange and red). It is generally forbidden to enter and leave the “orange” and “red” zones, except for proven professional and health reasons as well as absolute urgency or to return to your own home address.

“Until the 15.02, regardless of the classification of the region you are going to travel to, it is forbidden to travel between regions for tourism purposes. Exceptions are travelling for proven professional and health reasons as well as absolute urgency or to return to your own home address. Currently, Livigno is classified as a yellow zone from 01.02 like the whole Lombardy region.”

For those who can go, some hotels and other accommodation is open, details on the link.

Limited bar and restaurant service will be available, until 6pm in person. Then take away and delivery service of restaurants is open until 10 pm, for bars until 6pm.

Most of Livigno’s other great outdoor activities will be open, from snowshoeing to fat bikes (old school or electric), ski mountaineering to XC trails. Shopping is go too.
