WIN double passes to The Crash Reel

WIN 5 x double passes to the must see documentary The Crash Reel – a very close up look at how top snowboarder Kevin Pearce’s world was turned inside out by a life-changeing, and nearly life-ending, crash in the lead up to the Vancouver Olympics just when he was on track to take it to the wire with his nemesis Shaun White. It’s a must see story on so many levels, from the obvious of seeing the incredible talent, progression and dangers involved in the way boarding and skiing have gone in just a few short years to the deeply moving (I was reaching for the kleenex a lot) family involvements, especially that of Kevin’s Downes Syndrome affected brother David, whose eloquence talking about his condition and his love for his sibling are enlightening and gut wrenching.
Skier Sarah Burke’s tragic death – in virtually the same spot in the same pipe as Pearce’s accident – is another moment to make grown men cry.
But if you, or anyone close to you, is into action sports at any sort of level, this goes beyond must see, it’s a must own when the DVD is out in August. Film-maker Lucy Walker has done an amazing job of blending extensive family archive and event footage to create a story that holds you from start to finish.
There’s a charity VIP screening of The Crash Reel at the Orpheum in Cremorne at 6.30pm on 29 July. You can buy tickets here and check the trailer here
For our Sydney based followers just make sure you have liked our page then get on and like this and make a comment on any aspect of the story to be in the running to win one of the 5 sets of double passes. We’ll be popping up reminders and more info from the film for next couple of weeks, winners announced on 22 July.
It’s the best DVD that’s come across our desk this year hands down. Don’t miss it.
