Of course it’s cheesy, it’s Swiss!

Latest experience to try in Switzerland is an overnight in an igloo, on Mount Titlis in the famous Engelberg region.

Director of Switzerland Tourism in Australia, Mark Wettstein, says while skiing and snowboarding are top activities for any snow holiday in Switzerland, more and more travellers are seeking different activities to enhance their overall stay and experience in the country.

“Towering at 3020m and having its longest downhill run stretching 12km, Mount Titlis is one of the most popular snow holiday destinations in Switzerland, welcoming about 135,000 visitors every winter,” says Mark. “Apart from offering skiers and snowboarders some of the best slopes in the country, which are especially popular among freeriders or off-piste enthusiasts, Mount Titlis’ range of activities continues to expand. Increasingly popular among visitors are igloo stays, snowshoe trekking under the stars and a walk across Europe’s highest suspension bridge.”

“Igloo overnights offer guests a very different experience to the usual ski resort stays,” adds Mark. “It’s very much back to basics in terms of the layout and facilities; and the atmosphere also encourages guests to interact with each other creating an intimate community feel. As such, igloos are becoming more popular among families, couples and groups.”

Located in Central Switzerland, Mount Titlis is easily accessible from Lucerne via a 43min rail journey to Engelberg followed by a breathtaking 20min ride onboard the 360degree rotating Titlis Rotair cable car to the summit.
