Road test: XTM Nate II Touch screen capable mittens

snow action team 10.02.2015

For the past week in Japan I have had the pleasure to road test XTM’s Nate II mitten, possibly the world’s first ever mitten with the capability to use a smart phone touch screen without taking your gloves off.
This is especially useful as smart phones have taken over the role of compact digital cameras for many people. So taking your gloves off in sub-zero temperatures to take a photo is a task that one does not want to repeat too often.
I decided to give them a good flogging by taking photos whilst out skiing, in the gondola, on the walk to izakayas etc.
My only concern I had about the gloves was that the ends of your fingers is where the fabric is thinner material than that of the rest of glove. This concern was very quickly quashed after enduring a -12 degree day at Zao Onsen in Yamagata and the functionality of the touch glove survived and surpassed expectations. A whole day of skiing in cold conditions and covered in snow did not mean I was hanging them in front of the heater once I got back. I took them out restaurants, the Onsen and to bars in the same day without them ever reducing quality.
The gloves are made with a goat skin leather and Extreme-Tex which insures they will be able to survive the harshest conditions whilst also providing a soft touch and stylish finish. Couple this with the touch functionality and your onto a glove that you cherish – Sam Perry
