Mount Baw Baw 2030 - have your say

Mount Baw Baw and Lake Mountain Alpine Resorts Management Boards are inviting people who visit, work and have an interest in the future of the resorts to provide their insights and feedback on how best to make the resorts socially and financially sustainable as the impact of climate change becomes apparent.

Mount Baw Baw offers Australia’s cheapest skiing & snowboarding, just a couple of hours from Melbourne, and allows plenty of people – including young families – an opportunity to enjoy the snow they likely wouldn’t have otherwise.

The ‘Mt Baw Baw and Lake Mountain 2030’ project consultation has officially opened and has been designed to develop a set of recommendations for the future of both resorts.

The Discussion Papers prepared for each resort raise questions and issues to promote discussion on how both these resorts can maximise their economic and social benefits to their surrounding communities for the future.

Chairman of the Mount Baw Baw and Lake Mountain Alpine Resorts Management Boards, Allan Bawden, said the Boards are excited to be working with local communities to plan for the future.

“Mt Baw Baw and Lake Mountain are working on how best to provide a fantastic year-round experience to future generations of Victorians and visitors, overcome the challenges and make full use of the opportunities that may present themselves.

“Mt Baw Baw and Lake Mountain value the input of our local communities, operators and visitors, so we’re delighted to work with them to strengthen the future of both resorts. We invite everybody to read the Discussion Papers and have their say on the key issues and opportunities, which will be presented to the State Government later in the year,” Mr Bawden said.

Outcomes of the consultation will be presented to the Victorian Government in September 2016.

Findings from the initial community engagement stage during June and July will be made available for community and stakeholders to provide further feedback on in August.
