New for 2018-19 is what will be one of the best beginner and family ski facilities in North America, Solitude Station. It’s the next phase of capital investment surrounding the Sweetwater Gondola, located at the mid-station just a short two minute ride from the base of the mountain. The new Solitude Station boasts 12,000 square feet of Mountain Sports School, rental and dining facilities.
This full service lodge for Mountain Sports School guests will be completed for the Winter 2018/19 season, and will bring to life a new center of learning and fun in Jackson Hole. With a covered conveyor surface lift, top notch ski instructors and a state of the art facility all accessed by a quick gondola ride from the base, Solitude Station will be the new hub for learning.
The building will be activated for a family après experience and available for private events both summer and winter.
Solitude Station is for adults & kids alike. The new building is revolutionary in the ski industry in that it is a lodge designed with individual spaces for adults and children. By developing a multiuse building geared for a variety of Mountain Sports School guests, JHMR has created a sophisticated space that is functional for many types of skiers and families. The Cody House building at the base will continue to operate the Kid’s Ranch for daycare and younger children’s lessons, while Solitude Station will become the new center of learning for children ages 7 years old and up. All adult class lessons will be based out of Solitude Station creating a comfortable lodge environment for the many guests.

The new Solitude Station facility makes Jackson Hole one of the best places to start too

All guests looking to access Solitude Station can do so via a private line at the Sweetwater Gondola. This exclusive Mountain Sports School line will open at 8am, to allow guests to start purchasing lessons and rental equipment for the day before the mountain opens. No lift ticket is required when wearing street shoes, so friends and family members of people in lessons can access Solitude Station to watch their progress and enjoy the lodge.
Upon exiting the Sweetwater Gondola, guests are welcomed into Solitude Station in an inviting lobby staffed with Mountain Sports School experts to ensure your learning experience is tailored to your needs for the day. In the first building lift tickets, lessons and rental equipment can all be purchased in one easy transaction, and from there your day on the slopes with our friendly Mountain Sports School staff begins.
The two distinct dining rooms, grand in scale, with fireplaces and expansive windows facing out to the learning center outside, provide separate spaces for kids and adult lessons to break and refuel with high quality food and beverage options. These rooms and the exterior patio make for great locations to watch your children learning to ski and snowboard, or take a break from your day on the slopes.
Overall, Solitude Station elevates the learning experience at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, as it provides a new center for learning and growing with a comfortable lodge environment. Adult beginners will feel well taken care of out of the base area bustle, while older kids will enjoy the mature facility that will help them grow as skiers and snowboarders.

So don’t worry about taking friends or family who have never seen snow before.
