Buller is a family owned Aussie business backing Aussie skiing big time with massive investments. On snow this season enjoy $14 million worth. Check out some results already – the cable just went up for the 6 seat express lift on Bourke Street and the new Snow Factory is pumping out snow whales ready to spread around.

Buller was already the only Aussie resort with a 6-pack express lift. Now they have two of them, the shiny new Bourke Street Express replacing the old Buller Bullet quad lift, which was actually the first operational detachable quad chair in the World when it went in back in ’83.

No tears will be shed for it though, getting out of the base to access the goods will be a cinch now. The new lift has fewer towers too, opening up more of Bourke Street’s easy terrain.

It’s not the only new lift – the old rope tow goes replaced by a new platter lift in Canyons for a smoother link from Chamois to Standard areas of the mountain.

New snowmaking at Buller

The first Snow Factory has done a great job since arriving in 2017, allowing them to guarantee snow from opening weekend, and the new smaller and more mobile second one can be shifted around the mountain according to need.

With 2 snow factories and 256 snow guns Buller can cover a lot more terrain – 78ha and 19km of trails to be precise. For 2019 that now includes an old favourite, Men’s Downhill on the south side of the mountain.

Then in October work starts on a $10 million new water storage facility, allowiing for further expansion of the system in followiing seasons.

In the village there’s a major transformation underway, with stage one of the Kooroora Hotel redevelopment – a $32 million project overall – open this season. Featuring a new Kooroora bar and bistro, new downstairs nightclub – where That’s Amoré will still signal time at 3am – and new retail space, with apartments to follow, it will provide a new village activity hub day and night.

Peak time access gets streamlined with a new Park & Ride option on weekends in July and August. Leave the car at Mirimbah and hop on the free luxury coach for the bendy bit! Pre-book online and it will cost only $36.80 per car.

For Buller skiers & boarders heading north – even if it’s only as north as Thredbo – Buller joining the Ikon Pass in addition to the existing Mountain Collective membership opens up plenty more benefits and options with those.

We already told you Buller has Australia’s best top end resort terrain – check more on that here.

With snow on the way as we write this it’s looking good for a great season. Checkout their latest and progress on the lifts on the snowcams
