AvaLung Element – RRP AUD $159.95: Ready to attach to any AvaLung-ready pack and easily removable for four-season pack usage, the AvaLung Element is a proven snow-safety tool that significantly increases fresh air supply in the event of an avalanche burial. By pulling fresh air from the surrounding snowpack and directing exhaled CO2 out an exhaust port and away from the face, the AvaLung Element can increase usable air supply under the snow by up to four times. The unit is compatible and easy to install on any AvaLung-ready backpack.

One tool for two jobs, the Black Diamond Carbon Probe pulls double duty as both a ski pole and an avalanche probe. In addition to its stiff, lightweight design and Freeride Series grip and strap, the pole’s two carbon fibre lowers work in tandem to create a 182 cm probe, making it an ideal backcountry freeride tool. Black Diamond also added the new low-profile FlickLock® Pro locking mechanism for dramatic improvements in clamping force. Black diamond’s FlickLock® system is great, our demo pairs have done 5 years or so of 80 – 100 days a year with numerous O/s trips (pulling them apart makes for small packing profile too) and are still going strong – it’s amazing what a difference a quick adjustment to lengthen your poles makes for even short hikes.
