Australia Day on snow goes off around the globe

snow action team 23.01.2018

Australia Day on snow goes off around the globe at resorts with a special Aussie connection be that 90% of the workforce or plenty of paying punters on the hill.
This year will be no different, here’s a wrap of what’s on where. Cue our real anthem, Come From A Land Downunder, and rock these if you are in the hoods.

Let’s face it the World Ski Industry would grind to a halt without us .. well, part of it, not many places on the planet where you won’t find at least one Aussie liftie for example. Or 100s of us!

Whistler Blackcomb

Always an essential to visit, and work that gap year or decade, of course Australia Day goes off at Whistler. More so now it’s part of your #EpicAustraliaPass deal. Festivities start the night before with a whole night of dancing and celebrating at the Whistralia Day Sausage Sizzle at Maxx Fish Nightclub. And for those skiers excited to celebrate on the day, Long Horn Saloon kicks off the day with a special guest DJ, stop by Tapley’s Pub and listen to Australia’s iconic Triple J hottest 100 Countdown, whilst partying with friends or watch the sun go down as they celebrate at Garfinkel’s Whistler.

If you’re heading to Whistler check out how to find Whistler’s best ski lines.

Park City

With full season ski rights and easy one-stop flight access, Park City has benefited the most from the Epic Pass hook up. So Australia Day is big. Get your selfie with the flag, signs and kangaroos spread throughout the mountain. Festivities will start from the early afternoon with live muse by Aussie Dogs at Canyons Village, food and beverages at the Umbrella Bar, or après music by Classic Steve at Legends Bar & Grill.

Vail

Always popular with Aussies, Vail does a great Australia Day. Ski off the slopes and straight into Aussie après at the new Express Lift Bar, located at the base of Gondola One in Vail Village. Here almost everyone can enjoy the festivities with stickers for kids, live music for those wanting to dance the night away and a spacious patio for those wishing to relax and enjoy the afternoon. Also, for those that own an Australian Epic Pass holder, they can receive a retro Vail headband when they flash their pass and ID.

Big White

But the big daddy of Australia Day on snow goest to Big White – being Aussie owned has helped out there and the connection remains unshakeable. We love this Big White and they love us. Having another great season up there too!
To celebrate Australia Day, they will be sending Boomer the Kangaroo, their Australian mascot, to shred down the run Kangaroo. If you would like to shred with Boomer, meet at the top of Kangaroo at 11AM for a group photo. Australia Day is the only day you will see Boomer on the resort, so don’t miss your opportunity to meet him!
Don’t forget to show your Aussie spirit! Come decked out in your best Australian gear and you might even score yourself a couple of Tim-Tams!
Later in the day, make sure you head down to the bottom of the Ridge Rocket Express for a Sausage Sizzle and some great Aussie tunes. From 11AM to 1PM, it’s only $5 for a snag in bread and a can of soft drink – so get it while it lasts!
PLUS, many food venues around the resort will be serving up Aussie lunch and snack specials so make sure you grab some authentic Aussie grub.

Never been to Big White? Check out why we love it here.
