Air Canada launches new Brisbane - Vancouver non-stop flights

Air Canada’s inaugural flight AC35, 787 Dreamliner service from Vancouver arrived in Brisbane, Australia on Friday, marking the launch of the only non-stop service linking Canada and Queensland’s capital.

The new Brisbane-Vancouver flights are timed to optimize connectivity to and from Air Canada’s extensive North American network through the airline’s Vancouver hub, while also offering in Brisbane, excellent connectivity across Australia.

For skiers and boards you have your cake and ski it too – the mighty Whistler is up the road from Vancouver, or connect to Kelowna for the likes of Big White, Silver Star & Revelstoke, or Kamloops for Sun Peaks. Direct flights and Canadian dollar prices make an an unbeatable combo for many.

From June 17, 2016, the 787 Dreamliner service will continue on to Newark, providing Australian passengers with same plane service to New York.

Julieanne Alroe, Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO and Managing Director, said the importance of today’s launch for tourism and business could not be under-estimated.

“A direct flight straight from Brisbane to Vancouver is great news for Queensland travellers with Canada’s famously rugged and beautiful landscape now a comfortable and convenient direct flight away,” said Alroe.

“At the same time, Canada-Australia business ties are of increasing significance with our two economies sharing many major industries, like mining, agriculture and tourism, but complementing each other by operating opposing growing and tourist seasons.

“It is a win for Brisbane Airport, a big win for travellers as well as businesses throughout the region and the entire state of Queensland.”

Air Canada’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft features 20 International Business Class lie-flat seat suites, 21 Premium Economy and 210 Economy Class seats featuring upgraded in-flight entertainment at every seat throughout the aircraft. As a result of its ongoing expansion, Air Canada provides scheduled passenger service directly to 64 airports in Canada, 55 in the United States and 87 in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and South America.

The new Vancouver-Brisbane service is part of Air Canada’s ongoing international expansion this year, following the recent launch of Toronto-London Gatwick and Toronto-Prague. This summer, Air Canada will also launch new international services between Toronto-Budapest, Toronto-Warsaw, Toronto-Glasgow, Toronto-Seoul, Montreal-Casablanca, Montreal-Lyon, Vancouver-Dublin and later this fall, Vancouver-Delhi. Last year, Air Canada launched new international services between Toronto-Delhi, Toronto-Amsterdam, Toronto-Dubai, Montreal-Venice, Montreal-Mexico City and Vancouver-Osaka.
